During the demonstration on 5 June 2021, organised by the Comitato No Grandi Navi at the passage of the MSC Orchestra, photographer Michele Gallucci took a shot of Jane da Mosto aboard a rowing boat and iconically expressed the environmentalist struggle against the giants of the sea. The photo was featured in numerous media around the world and offered the opportunity to amplify We are Here Venice’s message on the need to defend and enhance the ecosystem of the Venetian lagoon and the world, demanding a drastic change in the cruise tourism sector, which is currently completely unsustainable.
