The magazine VITA has dedicated a special issue to the city of Venice, exploring the complexities and contradictions that define it. In the section “Venice Wounded in 9 Acts”, Jane da Mosto, together with nine other experts in the fields of housing, environment, and tourism, reflects on the concept of the “lagoon ecosystem” and the urgent need to protect intertidal zones, which are essential for preserving biodiversity and natural capital. The goal is to promote an alternative model of territorial development, one based on the ecosystem’s regenerative capacity rather than dependence on the tourism economy.
